Today, I reached a milestone in the twitterverse, I crossed over the 10,000 tweet mark.
I joined Twitter in February, only knowing the two people who had introduced me to Twitter at a travel conference, @cc_chapman and @alizasherman. I jumped in with both feet, I signed up, began following them and waited for the world to notice me. And you know what happened, absolutely nothing. No one said anything to me; no welcomed me to Twitter; and no one even noticed I was alive. I was the loneliest girl in the twitterverse.
After a couple of weeks, somehow I began following a third person and she said hello. She's a foodie, so her tweets were interesting. Funny, I can't remember her handle. During the last week in March, I was working in Hawaii, and while sitting in the sun, I decided to figure Twitter out. I still had this vision from my first encounter at the conference, and I wanted to be a part of it.
So I began at the beginning with @cc_chapman, I went to his Twitter homepage and started looking at the interesting pictures of people following him. I began clicking, reading their tweets & visiting their blogs, and then I began following. An amazing thing happened, they began following me back. Total strangers began saying "hi," "welcome to twitter," and asking me "how are you doing." It was frickin' great.
Since that momentous time in Hawaii, I've come to value my time on Twitter and those with whom I spend that time, my Tweeps. It is they that make the experience one that I cherish and look forward to everyday.
I want to take this time to recognize & dedicate this post to you, those I follow & those who do me the honor of following me, it is you who have made the twitterverse a safe place for me to share, flirt, rant, learn, teach, argue, laugh, cry, gasp, cuss, yell, discuss, empathize, sympathize, gossip, scream, eat crow and grow as a human being.
Thank you, each and every one of you that has ever tweeted me.
If Shannon Sez So, then it must be. It's as simple as that folks, no discussion, no debate, no argument, and no compromising (unless I say so). I'm a Scorpio, so you know I'm passionate about all the aspects of my life, especially my opinions. You are welcome to agree, disagree or remain neutral, but my mind is already made up and I sez so.
